อิทธิพลจากมรสุมตะวันตกเฉียงใต้กำลังแรงที่พัดปกคลุมทะเลอันดามัน ภาคใต้ และอ่าวไทยในช่วงปลายเดือนมิถุนายน 2567 ส่งผลทำให้มีฝนตกหนักถึงหนักมากเกิดขึ้นในหลายพื้นที่ทางตอนล่างของภาคใต้ โดยเฉพาะในช่วงวันที่ 29-30 มิถุนายน 2567 จังหวัดภูเก็ตได้รับผลกระทบอย่างหนักจากปรากฏการณ์การยกตัวของอากาศหน้าแนวเขาที่เกิดจากการปะทะกับแนวเขา (Orographic Lift) ส่งผลให้เกิดฝนตกหนัก
ถึงหนักมากในหลายพื้นที่ของเกาะ ลักษณะของฝนที่ตกหนักครอบคลุมเป็นบริเวณกว้างเกือบทั่วทั้งเกาะนี้ ทำให้เกิดน้ำท่วมฉับพลันในเวลาใกล้เคียงกันมากทั้งบริเวณภูเขาและพื้นที่เมือง จากการตรวจวัดปริมาณฝนรายชั่วโมงที่สถานีอ่างเก็บน้ำบางเหนียวดำ ต.ศรีสุนทร อ.ถลาง พบว่ามีฝนตกหนักถึงหนักมากอย่างต่อเนื่องตั้งแต่เวลา 05:00-09:00 น. โดยมีปริมาณฝน
สะสมมากถึง 320.40 มิลลิเมตร ซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุของการเกิดน้ำท่วมฉับพลันในครั้งนี้ ทั้งนี้ กรมป้องกันและบรรเทาสาธารณภัยภูเก็ตได้รายงานสถานการณ์อุทกภัยเมื่อวันที่ 30 มิถุนายน 2567 เวลา 19.28 น. ว่ามีพื้นที่ได้รับผลกระทบรวมทั้งสิ้น 2 อำเภอ 7 ตำบล 41 หมู่บ้าน 4 ชุมชน โดยมีประชาชนได้รับผลกระทบ 740 ครัวเรือน จำนวน 1,468 คน
The influence of the strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the South of Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand in late June 2024 caused heavy to very heavy rains in several areas of the Lower South. Particularly during 29-30 June 2024, Phuket Province was severely affected by the phenomenon of air mass lifting at the mountain front due to collision with the mountain range (orographic
lift). This resulted in heavy rain in several parts of the island. The widespread heavy rain in almost the entire island caused flash floods almost simultaneously in both mountainous and urban areas. Hourly rainfall measurements at the Bang Neo Dam station in Srisunthon Subdistrict, Thalang District showed continuous heavy to very heavy rains from 05:00 to 09:00 a.m. with cumulative rainfall reaching 320.40
millimeters, which was the cause of this flash flooding. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Phuket reported the flood situation on 30 June 2024, at 7:28 p.m. that the affected areas included 2 districts, 7 subdistricts, 41 villages, and 4 communities. A total of 740 households with 1,468 people were affected.
