อิทธิพลจากบริเวณความกดอากาศสูงหรือมวลอากาศเย็นจากประเทศจีนได้ปกคลุมภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือของประเทศไทย ประกอบกับมรสุมตะวันตกเฉียงใต้กำลังปานกลางพัดปกคลุมทะเลอันดามัน ประเทศไทยและอ่าวไทย ส่งผลให้มีฝนตกหนักในบางพื้นที่ของภาคเหนือ ภาคกลาง ภาคตะวันออก รวมทั้งกรุงเทพมหานครและปริมณฑล ในช่วงวันที่ 17-18 พฤษภาคม

2565 ซึ่งจากการตรวจวัดปริมาณฝนสะสมรายวันของสำนักการระบายน้ำกรุงเทพมหานคร ในช่วงวันที่ 17 พฤษภาคม 2565 เวลา 07.00 น. ถึงวันที่ 18 พฤษภาคม 2565 เวลา 07.00 น. พบสถานีที่มีฝนตกหนักมากตรวจวัดปริมาณฝนเกิน 90 มิลลิเมตรต่อวัน ทั้งหมด 35 สถานี โดยมีสถานีที่วัดฝนได้เกิน 100 มิลลิเมตรอยู่ถึง 21 สถานี นอกจากนี้ยังมีสถานีที่

ตรวจพบฝนตกหนัก ปริมาณฝนสะสมเกิน 35 มิลลิเมตรต่อวัน อีก 44 สถานี โดยที่ สถานี ซ.สะพานขวา มีฝนตกมากที่สุด 136.0 มิลลิเมตรต่อวัน รองลงมาคือที่สถานีคลองตาอูฐ และจุดวัดศูนย์ราชการ-ถ.แจ้งวัฒนะ วัดปริมาณฝนได้ 125.0 และ 123.5 มิลลิเมตร ตามลำดับ
